Jonathan Fisher:

I am a 23 year old currently living in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
I create music and perform under the alias FI$H. I work for an online music agency called Dotted Music and it’s sister company WeSpin. I have also just started my own company called ONE 90 which focuses on social media management and websites for small & growing businesses.

I get excited about art, fashion, communication, social media, marketing and the future. I also enjoy a good gourmet burger, a good beer and experiencing my favourite acts live.

Who do you look up to / inspires you?

A lot of music producers who are doing their own thing and making a career out of it inspire me. To name a few; Troyboi, Mr.Carmack, the whole Selection crew especially Joe Kay, Bassnectar, ill. Gates (he has really great views on the creative process)

I’m also finding Tim Ferriss really inspirational at the moment.

And the most important are the older guys who I go to for input and advice.

What do you do for fun?

For fun I like to hang out with my girlfriend, be with my closest friends, eat gourmet burgers or watch movies/series.

How does your typical day-in-the-life look like?

It involves lots of sitting behind a Laptop (I also work while standing sometimes), possibly a meeting and sometimes a gig in the late hours.

Worst Entrepreneur moment?

I would say pushing my music brand before I had enough skill and tools to back it up back in 2010.

When did you fail, and what did you learn?

I made that mistake in 2010, and since then I’ve learnt to really pursue my craft and would say I have the skill to back up my brand.

What makes you feel on top of the world?

Just enjoying life in a simple way and performing to a crowd that’s really enjoying what I’m doing.

What kind of daily habits, have you developed to get you where you are right now?

Prioritizing tasks and writing them down to cross off when done and knowing that not every day is going to feel super productive.

What is your future goals/plans?

To be doing what I’m doing now but with a far larger following for my music and more income from the various projects I’m currently working on.

What projects are you busy working on now?

FI$H (Music Production/Composition/Performance)
ONE 90 (Social Media Management & Websites for Growing Businesses)
And I’m working with Dotted Music & it’s sister company WeSpin.

What important lessons/tips can you give to help us/people that want to do what you do?

If you want to do something or follow a career path that you are extremely passionate about, do it!
